Job summary

Dollar General in Greenbrier, TN seeks an experienced Perishable Department Lead to manage produce, fresh meat, dairy, bakery, and other perishables under Store Manager supervision. You will oversee inventory, merchandising, pricing, and safety to ensure quality and profitability.

You will train associates on proper stocking, food handling, and presentation standards while maintaining strong cash controls and customer service.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
• Ability to learn and perform cash register functions to generate reports.
• Ability to review Operating Statements and identify business trends, expenses, shrink, and errors.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager, as directed, in ensuring the financial integrity of the store through strict cash accountability, key control, and adherence to security practices.
• Follow company policies and procedures as outlined in SOPs, Employee Handbook, and communications.
• Maintain perishable stock levels using various order guides and history data.
• Train associates in proper presentation, freshness, and pricing standards for perishables.
• Record perishable markdowns and take corrective action to prevent recurrences.
• Ensure compliance with sanitation standards and food handling certifications.
• Support other operational areas as directed by the Store Manager.
• Interact with customers to understand merchandise expectations and respond promptly.
