Job summary

Dollar General in Mount Pleasant, TN seeks a Perishable Department Lead to manage produce, meats, dairy, bakery, and related categories. You will assist the Store Manager with inventory control, display, pricing, and ensuring a safe work environment while upholding food handling rules. Prior retail and lead experience is preferred.

You will train associates, manage perishable stock, monitor markdowns, and maintain customer service standards in a fast-paced store setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Previous lead experience and/or grocery store experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in maintaining financial integrity through cash accountability and security practices.
• Follow SOPs, employee handbook, and company communications.
• Maintain perishable stock levels using Ads/Planners and order guides.
• Train associates on presentation, freshness, pricing, and safe handling of perishable products.
• Record inventory levels and perishable markdowns; analyze causes and take corrective action.
• Ensure customer needs are addressed promptly and maintain sanitation standards.
