Job summary

Dollar General in Columbia, TN seeks a Perishable Department Lead to oversee the produce, fresh meat, dairy, bakery, and related areas. You will ensure fresh, appealing, and safe merchandise and support inventory management and customer service.

You will work with the Store Manager on staff training, policy adherence, and food-handling compliance while maintaining accuracy in stock and cash controls.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Previous lead experience and/or grocery store experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in ensuring the financial integrity of the store through strict cash accountability, key control, and adherence to cash control procedures.
• Maintain correct perishable stock levels based on store volume using provided tools and guides.
• Train associates in proper presentation, freshness and pricing standards for all perishable areas.
• Record inventory levels as requested by the Store Support Center.
• Ensure customers' needs and requests are addressed efficiently and timely.
