Job summary

Dollar General in Whitwell, TN is seeking a Perishable Department Supervisor to manage produce, meat, dairy, bakery, and related perishables. You will assist the Store Manager with inventory, merchandising, and customer service while ensuring safe operations and asset protection.

You will train staff in presentation, freshness, compliance with food handling rules, and proper stocking. Prior grocery or lead experience is preferred and local food-handling certifications may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of retail experience and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Previous lead experience and/or grocery store experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in ensuring financial integrity through cash accountability and security practices.
• Follow SOPs, handbooks, and company communications.
• Maintain perishable stock levels using produce and order guides, and manage pricing standards.
• Train associates in proper presentation, freshness, and safety handling of perishable items.
• Record inventory levels and conduct markdown analysis to prevent recurrences.
• Ensure customer needs are addressed promptly and sanitation standards are met.
