Job summary

Northwell Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to participate as a member of the perioperative team, performing direct and indirect perioperative tasks for patients undergoing surgery. You will support patient safety by assisting with room turnover, equipment setup, and instrument handling under surgeon direction.

Requirements include a high school diploma, completion of an OR technician program, and CST credential (NBSTSA) or approved equivalent. Prior OR tech experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Graduate of an Operating Room Technician Program, required.
• Maintain CST credential NBSTSA, required, or equivalent military training or documented clinical experience.

Responsibilities

• Participates in turnover activities and room set up for each surgical procedure.
• Assists with surgical setup including suction connections, cords, power cables and electrocautery.
• Ensures cost-effective use of supplies and maintains OR environment.
• Breaks down the operating room after each procedure and ensures stock is adequate.
• Communicates needs for equipment and supplies with team; documents care per policy.
