Job summary

Northwell Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist/ORT for FlexStaff to join the Perioperative team. You will perform direct and indirect perioperative tasks for patients undergoing surgery and assist with patient safety and care delivery.

The role emphasizes aseptic technique, room turnover, equipment preparation, and collaboration with the surgeon and nursing staff. Prior CST credential is required; minimum one year experience; NYS regulatory alignment and BLS preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum of one year experience as a Surgical Technologist.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required.

Responsibilities

• Implements the age-appropriate plan of care and communicates changes at shift handoffs.
• Assists with room setup and turnover, equipment setup, and stock management.
• Monitors infection control and maintains sterile field during procedures.
• Adheres to aseptic techniques and handles instrument processing and sterilization.
• Counts sponges, sharps, and instruments with the RN and reports discrepancies.
