Job summary

The Operating Room Nurse at UCI Health uses the nursing process to design, coordinate, and deliver patient care for operative procedures. May act as scrub or circulating nurse and serves as a role model to nursing students and new staff.

You may float to all UCI Health locations as needed. Required qualifications include at least six months of recent perioperative nursing in acute care, knowledge of aseptic technique and surgical instrumentation, and the ability to work variable shifts.

Qualifications

• Minimum six months recent nursing experience in acute-care perioperative environment.
• Internal UCI candidate with 2+ years UC service and ADN enrollment with anticipated BSN completion.
• Demonstrated knowledge of aseptic technique, surgical instrumentation, and infection control.
• Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• All external candidates must have a BSN.

Responsibilities

• Design, coordinate, and deliver patient care for operative procedures.
• May act as scrub or circulating nurse.
• Float to all UCI Health locations as needed.
• Serve as role model to nursing students and new nurses.
• Function as Pt. Care Coordinator as requested.
