Job summary

Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville, VA, seeks a Manager of Surgical Services for the Main OR. You will oversee perioperative operations, mentor staff, and partner with surgeons to ensure safe, high-quality patient care across multiple service lines, including complex GYN, Neurosurgery, Vascular/Thoracic, and Orthopedics.

The role requires a BSN (MSN preferred), RN license, BLS within 90 days, and at least 3 years of acute care RN experience with scrub/circulator OR background.

Qualifications

• RN required; BSN, MSN preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of acute care RN experience.
• 3 years scrub and circulator OR experience.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate service line instruments and equipment purchase needs.
• Provide service line education to staff.
• Participate in staff interviews.
• Review used pick tickets for changes and coordinate with CC tech or Charge Auditor.
• Work with vendors and materials management to ensure items and identify cost reductions.
• Check expiration dates on specialty carts/areas not stocked by materials.
• Support precepting of staff to service line.
• Collaborate with surgeons in service line.
• Support/ facilitate change in processes.
• Provide input for EPRs and eliminate unused products/equipment.
• Keep service line equipment in good working order and organized.
• Collaborate with CSS on instrument set needs and tray consolidation to reduce cost.
• Submit and track work orders for equipment used in your service line.
• Review surgery schedule to identify conflicts or supply/implant issues.
