Job summary

Registered Nurse (RN) PreOp PACU at SCA Health in New Jersey is responsible for preoperative and postoperative assessment, perioperative care planning, and safe management of anesthesia recovery across multiple modalities. You will work within a values-driven team to ensure patient safety, education, and quality outcomes.

Role requires nursing licensure, BLS/BCLS within 90 days, ACLS/PALS as applicable, and at least one year of preoperative or PACU experience.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
• One year of Pre Operative or PACU experience required.
• Medical / surgical nursing experience.
• Current state licensure to practice in good standing; BLS/BCLS within 90 days; ACLS within 90 days; PALS if pediatric care is included within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Promote the mission, vision, and values of SCA.
• Assess preoperative and postoperative status per facility policies.
• Interpret monitors and describe pathophysiology of diseases.
• Apply discharge criteria (Aldrete/PARSAP/PADSS) as defined.
• Develop and implement an individualized perianesthesia plan of care.
• Manage recovery from anesthesia across general, MAC, regional, and local techniques.
• Protect patient from injury and educate patient and family.
• Communicate status across the perioperative continuum; manage pain.
• Administer medications safely using the 8 rights.
• Maintain wound integrity and physiologic balance across body systems.
• Maintain normothermia and prevent infection.
• Collaborate with disciplines and participate in quality/performance improvement.
• Document care accurately and participate in hand-offs and education.
• Uphold patient rights, dignity, and privacy; provide culturally competent care.
• Pursue professional growth and adhere to facility policies.

Education

Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing

Current state licensure to practice (good standing)

BLS/BCLS certification within 90 days

ACLS certification within 90 days

PALS certification within 90 days (if pediatric care included)

One year of Pre Operative or PACU nursing experience
