Job summary

SCA Health is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for the PreOp/PACU role at our Mobile, AL facility. You will promote patient safety and comfort while preparing patients for anesthesia and recovery, performing preoperative assessments, and coordinating care with surgical teams.

Responsibilities include monitoring vital signs, applying discharge criteria, and providing education to patients and families on postoperative expectations. A state RN license and BLS/ACLS/PALS are required as applicable.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
• Current state licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse.
• BLS/BCLS and ACLS within 90 days of employment.
• PALS certification required if pediatric care is included.

Responsibilities

• Assess preoperative and postoperative status according to policy and procedures.
• Interpret information from monitors and describe patient physiology.
• Develop an individualized perianesthesia plan of care and implement it.
• Prepare for and manage patient recovery from anesthesia across modalities.
• Communicate patient status to the care team and provide post-op education.
• Transfer care with accurate hand-off and participate in quality improvement.
