Qualifications

• Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
• One year of Pre Operative or PACU experience required.
• Medical/surgical nursing experience.
• Current state licensure to practice.
• Successful completion of BLS/BCLS within 90 days of employment.
• Successful completion of ACLS within 90 days of employment.
• PALS required if pediatric care is included within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient’s preoperative and postoperative status at intervals according to facility policies.
• Promote the mission, vision, and values of SCAHealth.
• Interpret information from monitors and describe pathophysiology of diseases.
• Develop an individualized perianesthesia plan of care.
• Implement the plan of care: manage recovery from anesthesia, VAC/ regional therapy as applicable.
• Communicate patient status during perioperative care and provide pain management as needed.
• Administer medications safely using the 8-rights of medication administration.
• Document nursing care completely, accurately, and legibly.
• Collaborate with other disciplines and participate in performance improvement projects.
• Transfer care and provide hand-off reports to teammates as needed.
