Job summary

MLK Community Hospital is seeking a Perioperative Clinical Educator (RN) to lead education for clinical and ancillary staff within Perioperative Services. This role emphasizes age-appropriate care, Watson Model integration, and regulatory compliance while aligning with MLKCH’s mission and quality initiatives.

The Educator will assess and develop staff competencies, plan unit-based orientations, and collaborate across departments to improve safety, customer satisfaction, and performance

Qualifications

• CNOR required within 12 months of hire.
• Bachelor's degree required.
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing in Perioperative Services; 1 year educator experience preferred.
• Current California Nursing license.
• EMR implementation experience preferred.
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing Education Department goals aligned with MLKCH mission and strategic plan.
• Inform Director and Sr. Dir. of Education about educational activities and program proposals.
• Support Surgical Quality Committee and help with data for Performance Improvement.
• Participate in annual educational needs assessment and program planning.
• Plan and implement unit-specific orientation for new staff in Perioperative Services.
• Develop/update policies, procedures, and unit competencies.
• Conduct unit-based trainings and collaborate on hospital orientation for new hires.
• Promote evidence-based practice and collaborate on annual educational programs.
