Job summary

Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital is seeking a Perioperative Clinical Educator (RN) to lead educational programs across the Perioperative Services.

The role requires CNOR certification within 12 months of hire and involves planning, developing, and evaluating staff competencies in a fast-paced environment. The educator collaborates with the Education Department, participates in quality initiatives, and supports new graduate nurses and fellows in the Perioperative Department.

Qualifications

• CNOR certification required within 12 months of hire.
• Minimum of two (2) years of clinical nursing experience in Perioperative Services and a minimum one (1) year educator experience in an acute care setting, preferred.
• Certification in Staff Development preferred.
• Experience with implementation of an EMR preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists in implementing Education Department goals aligned with the mission/vision and MLKCH strategic plan.
• Keeps the Director of Perioperative Services and Sr. Dir. Of Education informed of educational activities and proposals for new programs.
• Participates in Surgical Quality Committee and assists with data to support Performance Improvement initiatives.
• Plans and implements unit-specific orientation of new staff to Perioperative Services.
• Develops/updates unit-based competencies and ensures staff are current.
• Collaborates on educational presentations and general hospital orientation for new hires.
