Job summary

MLK Community Healthcare is seeking a Perioperative Clinical Educator (RN) to lead education across Perioperative Services. The role emphasizes aligning programs with the hospital mission, governance, and performance improvement goals.

The educator collaborates with nursing leadership to plan and deliver competency assessments, evidence-based practice, and staff development. The position requires CNOR (within 12 months), 2+ years perioperative nursing and 1+ year educator experience, and

Qualifications

CNOR required to be completed within 12 months of hire.
Minimum of two (2) years of perioperative nursing experience and at least one (1) year as an educator in an acute care setting preferred.
Certification in Staff Development preferred.
Experience with EMR implementation preferred.
Bilingual skills in Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist in implementing Education Department goals aligned with MLKCH mission and strategic plan.
Keep Director and Sr. Dir. of Education informed of activities and proposals for new programs.
Participate in Surgical Quality Committee and provide data for performance improvement initiatives.
Lead annual educational needs assessment with Clinical Educators and assist with program planning.
Plan unit-specific orientation of new staff to Perioperative Services.
Develop and update policies, procedures and unit competencies.
