Job summary

MLK Community Hospital is seeking a Perioperative Clinical Educator (RN) to lead educational services for clinical and ancillary staff in Perioperative Services. The role emphasizes age/population awareness and the Watson Model of Care, with accountability for staff competency, regulatory compliance, quality improvement, safety and patient satisfaction.

The educator supports the hospital's mission and core values.

Qualifications

CNOR required to be completed within 12 months of hire.
Bachelor's degree in Nursing required.
Current California NP nursing license is required.
Certification in Staff Development preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist in implementing Education Department goals aligned with MLKCH strategic plan.
Maintain communication with Director and Senior Director of Education about programs and proposals.
Participate in Surgical Quality Committee and support performance improvement data.
Lead annual educational needs assessment and assist with program planning.
Plan and implement unit-specific staff orientations to Perioperative Services.
Develop, review and revise policies, procedures and protocols.
Develop and update unit-based competencies and ensure staff is current.
Conduct mock drills for Fire in OR, Code Blue, and Malignant Hyperthermia.
Collaborate on unit and hospital-wide educational presentations and orientation for new hires.
Promote evidence-based practice and continuous education.
