Job summary

Southpoint Surgery Center in the Durham-Southpoint area is seeking an experienced perioperative Registered Nurse for the PACU. You will deliver comprehensive nursing care across the age continuum, with supervision responsibilities when needed, in a fast-paced ambulatory surgery setting.

Qualifications include NC or compact-state RN license, BLS, and 1 year perioperative and 1 year critical care experience. BSN preferred; ACLS/PALS within 6 months. Strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing; Associate degree required, BSN preferred.
• Current licensure in the State of North Carolina or compact multi-state RN license required.
• BLS certification through AHA or ARC is required on hire.
• ACLS and PALS certifications must be obtained within 6 months of employment; both preferred on hire.
• A minimum of 1 year perioperative nursing experience; 1 year critical care experience required.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes the nursing process to plan, implement, evaluate, and adjust plan of care; reports changes to appropriate personnel.
• Collaborates on discharge planning and readiness for discharge with the care team.
• Applies age-specific standards in medications and care during anesthesia/analgesia and perioperative care.
• Incorporates cultural and developmental needs into the plan of care; follows age-specific guidelines.
• Demonstrates critical thinking and delegates tasks to staff based on patient needs and staff competence.
• Documents patient care in the medical record per established standards.
• Participates in performance improvement activities and policy development.
• Completes additional duties as needed.
