University of Maryland Medical System is seeking a Perioperative Business Associate to manage perioperative business operations, including scheduling, charge capture, data validation, and administrative services across Downtown and Midtown campuses.

You will coordinate surgical schedules, support registration and authorization processes, and ensure accurate billing and records while handling supplies, requisitions, and vendor interactions.

Qualificações

  • Proficient knowledge of medical and surgical terminology.
  • Experience using automated scheduling or clinical information systems.
  • Proficiency with computers, office equipment, data entry, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to type at least 45 words per minute.
  • Experience using Smartsheet to maintain trackers, reports, forms, and operational workflows.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Copilot for workplace productivity, communication, research, and data-related tasks.
  • Knowledge of insurance authorization processes, including eligibility verification, referrals, prior authorizations, and account documentation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including drafting professional correspondence and communicating with physicians, clinical staff, patients, visitors, internal departments, and external organizations.
  • Strong customer-service skills with the ability to respond courteously and professionally to questions, concerns, and requests.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships and demonstrate awareness of patient, visitor, and staff needs.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive patient, employee, and business information.
  • Strong organizational, filing, record-management, and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to maintain purchase orders, invoices, scheduling records, and other departmental documents.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, meet deadlines, adapt to changing priorities, and work effectively under pressure.
  • Strong problem-solving and research skills, including the ability to locate and evaluate information from multiple systems and departmental resources.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and support efficient departmental operations.
  • Knowledge of general office procedures, practices, and policies.
  • Professional telephone etiquette and the ability to operate a multiline telephone system, when applicable.
  • Basic knowledge of purchasing and contracting principles, terms, and conditions.

  • Support patient registration and authorization processes.
  • Complete charge reconciliation and data-quality audits.
  • Maintain accurate clinical and billing information.
  • Coordinate supplies and equipment, process requisitions.
  • Support product and vendor reviews, facilitate equipment repairs.
  • Help resolve purchasing and billing issues.
  • Coordinate meetings and prepare reports.
  • Support payroll and human resources activities.
  • Maintain records and support special projects.
  • Communicate with clinical teams, physicians, vendors, and other hospital departments.
