Job summary

MLK Community Healthcare in Los Angeles seeks a Perioperative Clinical Educator RN to lead education program planning for clinical and ancillary staff in Perioperative Services. You will ensure alignment with the organization’s mission, quality improvement, and patient safety while fostering collaborative relationships.

The role requires CNOR (within 12 months), 2+ years perioperative nursing with educator experience, and EMR familiarity.

Qualifications

• CNOR certification required within 12 months of hire.
• Minimum 2 years of perioperative nursing experience with at least 1 year as an educator in an acute care setting.
• Staff Development certification preferred.
• Experience with EMR implementation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supports development and implementation of Education Department goals aligned with MLKCH mission and strategic plan.
• Maintains communication with Perioperative Services leadership on program status and proposals for new/revised programs.
• Participates in Surgical Quality Committee and uses data for performance improvement initiatives.
• Plans unit-based orientation for new staff in Perioperative Services.
• Develops and updates unit-based competencies and staff training materials.
• Leads/assists with mock drills (Fire in OR, Code Blue, MHB).
• Collaborates on educational presentations and orientation for new hires, including hospital-wide orientations.
