Job summary

UNC Health Care in North Carolina is seeking an experienced registered nurse for the Perinatal Services unit at Wayne Health. The role covers Labor and Delivery, Women and Infant's Center, and Special Care Nursery, with training across all three areas.

The position requires graduating from an accredited nursing program, NC RN licensure, BLS, and at least 1 year of experience. It is a full-time, night-shift role located at WAYNE MED, 36 hours per week, onsite.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practice and procedures.
• Ability to apply the nursing process appropriately.
• Ability to assess the nursing needs of acute and chronically ill patients.
• Good interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Good organizational, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
• Proficient with EMR/Epic, and able to learn new software rapidly.
• Ability to stand, walk and meet the physical requirements of the job.

Responsibilities

• Uses the nursing process to plan, provide, supervise and document professional nursing care delivered to patients.
• Individualizes the plan of care using professional nursing judgment.
• Demonstrates competence in care of patients with complex problems and safety aspects of care.
• Collaborates and communicates effectively with providers, interdisciplinary teammates, patients and families.
• Follows the systems that support the nursing process and delivers safe and effective patient care.
• Performs duties in emergency situations and keeps leadership informed of issues.
• Supervises teammates and may act as team leader or charge nurse.
• Completes continuing education and professional development.
