Job summary

VCUarts invites applications for the part-time Box Office Manager for Performing Arts, overseeing daily ticketing, patron records, and online sales across multiple venues.

The role partners with Chairs, faculty, and staff in Theater, Music, and Dance to coordinate front-line box office operations for ~70 performances per year. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required.
• Exceptional customer service skills required.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills essential.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to analyze data and identify trends.
• Proactive, initiative-taking and able to recommend process improvements.
• Experience with Etix or similar ticketing software preferred.
• Knowledge of credit card security, cash handling and transactional compliance.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate exceptional customer service and respond to patron inquiries.
• Ensure timely and accurate processing of ticketing transactions in Etix.
• Oversee data management in Etix: posting and maintaining events.
• Collaborate with departments to boost sales and promote VCUarts.
• Maintain and update the box office website content.
• Manage front of house, box office schedule, and opening duties.
• Recruit, train, schedule, and timekeep ushers and box office staff.
• Create training docs for ticketing and customer service.
• Provide a welcoming, inclusive, safe environment for patrons and staff.
• Keep patron records and sales summaries up-to-date.
• Produce regular sales and performance reports for leadership.
• Offer insights on trends and customer feedback to improve operations.
• Coordinate facility scheduling for VCUarts venues as needed.
