Job summary

Shields Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist for a per diem role. The position emphasizes sterile technique, equipment handling, and assisting the surgeon during procedures while maintaining a safe, efficient OR environment.

Completion of an accredited surgical technician program with CST certification within a year is required, along with at least one year of surgical tech experience. The role offers daytime hours, no on-call, and free parking onsite.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited surgical technician program or equivalent.
• Certification (CST) required within 1 year of program completion.
• Mass experience prior to July 2013.
• Minimum of one year work experience as a surgical technician.
• Experience in Ambulatory or Outpatient Surgery preferred.
• Experience scrubbing in orthopedic, plastics, general and urology cases preferred.
• Experience in Sterile Processing Department preferred.
• Great team player.

Responsibilities

• Selects and checks case carts and preference cards for correct instrument pans and items to facilitate timely procedure starts.
• Anticipates needs for special equipment and supplies before the procedure.
• Checks instruments and equipment for safe working order.
• Prepares and maintains a safe patient care environment within the OR suite.
• Maintains sterile technique and handles medications and irrigation as dispensed by the RN.
• Assists with stripping, cleaning, and setting up the OR for cases and supporting OR flow.
