Job summary

Jefferson Health in the Montgomery area is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist – Per Diem Days to join the Short Procedure unit in the main OR from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm. This role does not require call, weekends, or holidays.

The CST assists the surgical team, maintains sterile field, supports pre-, intra-, and post-operative care, and precepts other team members, while ensuring patient safety and efficient operating room operation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and completion of a surgical technician program.
• Ability to communicate respectfully with patients, families, and care partners.
• Appreciation of diversity and ability to connect with patients from varied backgrounds.
• Strong communication for accurate transmission of ideas and needs.
• Commitment to accuracy and attention to detail in patient care.
• Knowledge of safety standards, OR equipment, and procedural workflows.
• Familiarity with surgical assistance techniques and sterile field management.
• Ability to work to maximize OR efficiency and productivity.
• BLS and AHA certifications; CST and TS-C credentials.

Responsibilities

• Maintain sterile field and prepare OR equipment and supplies.
• Assist with gowning, gloving, and draping of the surgical team.
• Count sharps, sponges and instruments with the circulating nurse.
• Provide precepting and guidance to other surgical team members as needed.
• Support decontamination and sterile supply areas and ensure safety.
• Communicate status and handoff information to relief personnel.
