Job summary

Shields Health is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist for a per diem position in Shrewsbury, MA. The role focuses on prepping the OR, sterilizing instruments, and ensuring all equipment functions properly for daytime procedures.

You'll work Monday through Friday with no holidays, nights, or on-call requirements, and onsite parking is provided. Collaboration with nurses and surgeons is essential to maintain sterile technique and efficient case flow.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited surgical technician program is required.
• Certification (CST) must be obtained within 1 year of program completion.
• Mass experience prior to July 2013 is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain a sterile OR environment and ensure equipment readiness.
• Select and check case carts, packs, and instruments for cases.
• Anticipate surgeon needs and pass instruments during procedures.
• Perform instrument counts before and after procedures.
• Decontaminate, clean, and sterilize equipment as required.
• Assist with OR flow and equipment maintenance; support team as needed.
• Maintain safety and labeling accuracy for specimens.
