Job summary

Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville is seeking 2027 Respiratory Therapy graduates for hands-on experience in the Pulmonary department as externs. This per diem/registry position offers flexible shifts and 8-12 hours per week to gain exposure on the floors.

Under supervision of a licensed respiratory therapist, you will perform basic procedures, help organize supplies, and learn equipment handling while ensuring infection control standards.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
• BLS certification required.
• No prior experience required.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision, perform routine respiratory therapy procedures including oxygen therapy, pulse oximetry, aerosol therapy.
• Organize and maintain department equipment and supplies.
• Collect and clean equipment per infection prevention guidelines.
• Complete annual hospital competencies and learn new equipment as needed.
• Assist with patient positioning and transport as required.
• Provide age-appropriate care under supervision.
