Job summary

Florida Home Health, part of LHC Group and Optum family, is hiring a Per Diem Physical Therapist Assistant to perform treatment and provide exercise instruction and patient education under the established plan of care.

Responsibilities include following state laws, guiding patients in active and passive exercises, observing responses, coordinating with the healthcare team, and training family or caregivers in therapy techniques.

Qualifications

• Current, licensed, registered, or certified to assist in the practice of physical therapy in state of practice.
• Current driver's license and vehicle insurance, access to a dependable vehicle, or public transportation.
• Available to work a weekend rotation.
• Ability to function in any home situation regardless of age, race, creed, color, sex, disability, or financial condition of the client.
• Preferred: CPR certification or ability to complete within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to perform physical tasks required for patient care, including lifting, transferring, and assisting with mobility.

Responsibilities

• Following state laws and supervising PT directions; perform only qualified procedures and suggest plan-of-care changes.
• Instructs and aids patients in active and passive exercise, gait, ADL, transfer, safety, and prosthetic training.
• Observes and reports patient response to treatment; coordinates care with health team.
• Instructs patient, family, caregiver, and others in therapy within PT assistant scope.
