Job summary

You will provide estimates for services and process payments, ensuring a smooth, one-touch registration experience for patients.

Daily tasks include greeting patients, scheduling, EMPI verification, and maintaining compliance with HIPAA and departmental policies.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma required with at least 2 years related experience.
• Associate degree with 6 months related experience preferred.
• Minimum 1 year related experience preferred.
• Basic MS Word & MS Excel; Customer Service and organizational skills.
• NAHAM certification within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and/or staff promptly and direct them based on appointment location and status.
• Respond to phone calls per customer service standards; assist scheduling to reduce call length and wait times.
• Search and identify patient records in the hospital system to ensure accurate identification (EMPI).
• Schedule appointments according to protocols in scheduling systems and EMRs; contact patients for details.
• Enter complete demographic and financial information to aid in securing payment for services.
• Verify insurance eligibility and obtain payor requirements as needed; contact payors for information and authorization.
• Provide service estimates and actively solicit patient liability.
• Enter testing orders in the system and understand coding and the charge master.
• Obtain signatures for required consents and notifications.
• Maintain compliance with department policies, HIPAA, EMTALA, and Patient Bill of Rights.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
