Job summary

Vassar Brothers Medical Center in New York’s Hudson Valley region seeks an experienced Patient Access colleague to facilitate a seamless patient flow from scheduling through registration. You will gather demographic and financial information to ensure accurate patient identification and identify payment sources.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma required with 2+ years related experience.
• NAHAM certification within one year of hire (within one year of hire).

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and physicians, check them in according to appointment status and needs.
• Answer calls per customer service standards and route to appropriate staff.
• Search patient records using EMPI to ensure correct identification.
• Schedule appointments following system protocols and protocols of scheduling systems.
• Enter accurate demographic and financial information to aid in securing payment.
• Verify insurance eligibility and obtain payor information as needed.
• Provide estimates for services and actively solicit patient liability.
• Enter testing orders in the system and understand coding and the charge master.
• Obtain signatures for required consents and notifications.
• Maintain compliance with department policies, HIPAA, EMTALA and Patient Rights.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
