Job summary

Vassar Brothers Medical Center is seeking a Telephone Operator to answer main lines and patient information calls, routing them efficiently while upholding privacy and hospital policy. The role requires courteous, accurate information delivery and timely data entry.

Responsibilities include maintaining on-call schedules, using Vocera and paging systems for life safety codes, and supporting department goals with reliable attendance.

Qualifications

• HS graduate or equivalent.
• Minimum of 6 months’ switchboard or direct customer service experience.
• Strong computer skills including Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Spanish and/or Portuguese language ability is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Answers main number and patient information calls in a timely fashion with strong customer service.
• Implements department policies for emergencies using Vocera and paging systems.
• Monitors emergency devices, documents incidents, and coordinates with Engineering/Security as needed.
• Maintains up-to-date databases and on-call schedules.
• Supports department goals and maintains professional, courteous interactions with callers.
