NYU Langone Health is seeking a Per Diem-Clinical Laboratory Technologist to join our team. The role involves performing routine and complex laboratory procedures, specimen processing, testing, reporting results, and maintaining quality control across instruments and processes.

The successful candidate will review patient results before EMR release, coordinate with medical staff, and participate in staff training. NYSDOH licensure and relevant degree prerequisites apply.

Qualifications

• Licensed by NYSDOH as a Certified Clinical Laboratory Technologist.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology from a program registered by the NYS Department of Education or Bachelor’s Degree in biology, chemistry or physical sciences from an accredited college or university.
• One year of experience in a clinical laboratory (internship acceptable).
• Effective interpersonal communication skills required.

Responsabilités

• Performs laboratory tests and procedures.
• Follows approved policies and procedures for methodologies and instrument operations and recording/reporting results.
• Performs quality control, instrument preventive maintenance, function checks and calibration.
• Troubleshoots per guidelines and takes appropriate action when controls are invalid or inconsistent.
• Reviews patient results prior to release to EMR, correlates with history/values, and identifies illogical results.
• Communicates critical values and testing concerns to medical staff per protocol, documents accordingly.
• Completes proficiency and competency assessments.
• Maintains testing supplies and orders as directed by lead.
• Generates and reviews pending logs.
• Enters Patient Safety Intelligence (PSI) as required.
• Participates in training of new medical technologists/residents under supervision.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
