Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island is seeking a Technologist, Clinical Laboratory - Per Diem to perform routine and complex laboratory procedures, process specimens, report results, and ensure quality control. The role includes instrument operation, calibration, and adherence to policies while supporting education and training of staff.

The candidate will review results before EMR release, communicate critical values to physicians, and participate in proficiency assessments.

Qualifications

NYSDOH licensed as a Certified Clinical Laboratory Technologist.
Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology or biology/chemistry/physical sciences from an accredited college or university; NYSOP grandfather clause may apply.
One year experience in a clinical laboratory (internship acceptable).
NY license required.
Effective interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Performs laboratory tests and procedures.
Follows approved policies and procedures for methodologies and instrument operations.
Performs quality control, instrument maintenance, and calibration.
Troubleshoots instrument issues and flags invalid results.
Reviews patient results before release to the EMR and correlates with patient history/previous values.
Communicates critical values to medical staff per protocol.
