Job summary

VEG ER for Pets in Cary, NC seeks a per diem Emergency Veterinary Assistant to join the team and support patients from day one. You’ll assist with triage, treatments, and diagnostics, collaborating closely with credentialed techs and veterinarians.

We offer training toward CPR, anesthesia support, ultrasound, and catheterization, with growth pathways and a welcoming, fast-paced environment where you can develop your skills and grow your career.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; AVMA program a plus.
• Able to communicate effectively with pet parents and team.
• Willing to work in a fast-paced veterinary ER environment.

Responsibilities

• Triage incoming patients and guide them toward care.
• Assist with treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics.
• Work with technicians and veterinarians on anesthesia and sedation.
• Manage IV fluids, transfusions, and medications.
• Support outpatient or inpatient care and participate in rounds.
• Learn CPR and RECOVER certification; training provided.
