Job summary

VEG ER for Pets seeks a dedicated per diem Emergency Veterinary Assistant to join our fast-paced practice. You will support your team, comfort pet parents, and learn on the job from day one, handling triage, treatments, and patient care in a dynamic ER setting.

You will work with credentialed technicians and veterinarians, gaining exposure to anesthesia, diagnostics, and critical care while growing into greater responsibilities through guided training pathways.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Enrolled in an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program a plus.
• 1+ years in a veterinary assistant role (emergency or specialty experience a bonus).

Responsibilities

• Be the first warm welcome and triage incoming patients.
• Assist with treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics, from bloodwork and imaging to catheter placement and oxygen support.
• Work alongside credentialed technicians and veterinarians to set up and monitor anesthesia and sedation cases.
• Set up and manage IV fluids, blood transfusions, and medication administration.
• Assist during every moment of care: outpatient or inpatient, exam room to treatment area.
• Join patient rounds and stay close to the clinical picture to ensure continuity of care.
