Job summary

St. Mary’s Hospital - Kankakee is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to support the Telemetry unit. The role involves assisting patients with activities of daily living and delivering basic nursing care under the supervision of the Registered Nurse on duty.

Requirements include a CNA certification (Illinois approved) and a high school diploma. Phlebotomy certification and EKG certification are preferred, with BLS required within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

• CNA certification (Illinois approved) required.
• Phlebotomy certification upon hire preferred.
• EKG certification upon hire preferred.
• BLS within 30 days of hire and kept current.
• Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
• Minimum six months experience in acute care hospital or physician’s office preferred.

Responsibilities

• The Patient Care Assistant assists patients with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing care to all patients and assists in maintenance of a safe environment under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse in charge of the team and/or unit.
