Job summary

Saint Joseph Hospital - Elgin is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to support patients with daily living activities and provide basic nursing care under the supervision of the Registered Nurse in charge of the team and unit.

Candidates should have CNA certification, BLS within 30 days, and knowledge of Medical Terminology; six months of acute care hospital or physician’s office experience is preferred. Per diem shifts with variable hours are available.

Qualifications

• Current Phlebotomy certification upon hire, preferred.
• Current EKG certification upon hire, preferred.
• Current BLS (AHA) within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
• Possesses knowledge of Medical Terminology.
• Minimum six months previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office preferred.

Responsibilities

• The Patient Care Assistant assists patients with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing care to all patients and assists in maintenance of a safe environment under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse in charge of the team and/or unit.
