Job summary

Saint Joseph Hospital - Elgin is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to support patients with activities of daily living and provide basic nursing care under the direction of the Registered Nurse in charge of the team and unit.

The role requires CNA certification, phlebotomy or EKG certifications, BLS within 30 days, knowledge of medical terminology, and a minimum of six months' experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
• CNA certification is required.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred.
• EKG certification preferred.
• BLS (AHA) within 30 days of hire and maintained.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living.
• Provide basic nursing care under the supervision of the RN in charge of the team/unit.
• Maintain a safe environment on the unit.
