Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island in Mineola, NY, is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Technologist - Per Diem to perform routine and complex laboratory procedures, process specimens, calculate and report results, and maintain quality control. The role supports instrument operation and calibration and requires NYSDOH licensure and relevant lab experience.

Qualifications

• NYSDOH Licensed as a Certified Clinical Laboratory Technologist.
• Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology or in biology/chemistry/physical sciences from an accredited program.
• One year of clinical laboratory experience (internship acceptable).
• NY license.

Responsibilities

• Performs laboratory tests and procedures.
• Follows policies for methodologies, instrument operation, recording and reporting results.
• Maintains quality control, instrument maintenance, and calibration.
• Troubleshoots instrument issues and documents actions.
• Reviews patient results before release to EMR and correlates with patient history.
• Communicates critical values to medical staff per protocol.
• Completes proficiency and competency assessments.
• Maintains testing supplies and may order as directed.
• Generates and reviews pending logs and participates in training of staff.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
