NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is seeking a Laboratory Technologist with Microbiology expertise for a per diem position in Clinical Labs. The role involves performing a variety of microbiology tests, analyzing results, and ensuring accuracy under general supervision.

Required qualifications include a BS in Medical Technology (or related field with clinical internship) and NYS licensure eligibility. The candidate should demonstrate analytical skills, teamwork, and the ability to handle high volumes

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology with a clinical internship or a related discipline with one year supervised clinical laboratory experience.
NYS Education Department Clinical Laboratory Technologist License or eligible.
Professional accreditation preferred.
Analytical skills to analyze data and perform calculations.
Basic knowledge of computer fundamentals and lab information systems.

Responsibilities

Performs clinical laboratory tests in one or more sections to obtain data for diagnosis and treatment.
Analyzes and interprets test results and notices when results are abnormal or atypical.
Maintains quality control and documents corrective actions as required.
Troubleshoots instrument issues and notifies supervisors as needed.
Monitors inventory of reagents and supplies and informs supervisor of needs.
Performs phlebotomy when required and adheres to procedures.
