Job summary

NYU Langone Health is seeking a Per Diem-Clinical Laboratory Technologist to join our team. In this role, you will perform routine and complex laboratory procedures, including specimen processing and handling, testing of patient specimens, calculating and reporting results, and operating laboratory instruments.

The position requires NYSDOH licensure as a Certified Clinical Laboratory Technologist, a relevant bachelor's degree, and at least one year of clinical laboratory experience.

Qualifications

• NYSDOH Licensed as a Certified Clinical Laboratory Technologist.
• Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology or equivalent in biology/chemistry/physical sciences.
• One year of clinical laboratory experience (internship acceptable).
• NYS License.
• Effective interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs laboratory tests and procedures.
• Follows approved policies and procedures for methodologies and instrument operations; records and reports results.
• Performs quality control, instrument maintenance, function checks and calibration.
• Troubleshoots control values and instrument issues per guidelines.
• Reviews patient results before release to EMR; correlates with history/previous values.
• Communicates critical values to medical staff per protocol.
• Completes proficiency and competency assessments.
• Maintains adequate testing supplies and assists lead as directed.
• Generates and reviews pending logs; enters PSI as required.
• Participates in training of new technologists/residents as directed by seniors.
