Job summary

La Raza Community Resource Center in San Francisco seeks a People Operations Coordinator to manage HR compliance, staff relations, benefits, records, and a 50‑person volunteer program. The role supports the Chief of Staff and reports to leadership, with a focus on building efficient processes and staff wellness.

You will recruit, onboard, and schedule volunteers, maintain regulatory compliance, and foster a productive, inclusive workplace in a bilingual nonprofit environment.

Qualifications

• 1+ year hands-on HR experience across employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, benefits, training, and organizational support.
• Nonprofit operations and volunteer coordination experience is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state (including California) and local employment laws; ability to apply them day-to-day.
• Experience recruiting lifecycle: job postings, screening, interviewing, onboarding.
• Excellent English and Spanish written and spoken communication.
• Familiarity with HR information systems and volunteer scheduling software; knowledge of Google Workspace, Rippling, BILL, PEAR Suite, Microsoft 365, Teams.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with SF, CA, and federal labor laws.
• Manage onboarding, personnel files, and benefits administration.
• Maintain digital and physical personnel records; audit for accuracy.
• Oversee benefits tracking, eligibility, enrollments, and changes.
