Job summary

Tutor Intelligence in Watertown, MA is seeking a People Operations Manager to own the day-to-day employee experience for a 160+ person team across six states. You’ll lead onboarding, ongoing check-ins, and offboarding, while ensuring data accuracy in our HRIS and partnering with Compliance & Benefits on lifecycle events.

You’ll improve playbooks, create clear policies, and ensure respectful, discreet handling of sensitive situations in a fast-growing environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in People Operations, HR generalist, or a similar operations role at a fast-growing company.
• You’ve run onboarding and offboarding yourself, not just supported someone who did.
• Comfortable working in an HRIS and keeping employee data accurate across systems (we use Rippling).
• Strong written communication. Much of this job is explaining things clearly to people who are busy.
• High discretion and sound judgment with confidential information and sensitive employee situations.
• Not afraid to step foot in a factory or a warehouse; experience with field staff is valued.
• Based in or willing to relocate to the Boston area; in-office in Watertown, MA.

Responsibilities

• Own onboarding end-to-end: pre-start logistics, first-week experience, and buddy program.
• Conduct 30-, 60-, and 90-day check-ins with new hires and managers; act on feedback.
• Manage employee changes: transfers, title and comp updates, and HRIS accuracy.
• Oversee offboarding, exit interviews, and implement learnings to drive improvements.
• Serve as first point of contact for policies and processes; clarify questions for staff.
• Maintain and improve People Ops playbooks so the team runs smoothly.
• Collaborate with Compliance & Benefits on leave, accommodations, and benefits questions.
