Southland Industries is seeking an HR Coordinator to join our fast-paced HR Shared Services team in Houston. You will handle onboarding, system support in Workday, background checks, and employee data management while ensuring confidentiality and accuracy.

Collaborate with cross-functional partners to support talent processes, benefit inquiries, unemployment responses, and HR operations. The role offers growth opportunities and a hands-on chance to contribute to a people-first culture.

Qualifications

• 3–4 years of HR Coordinator/HR Administrative experience.
• HCM system experience (Workday)
• Onboarding and pre-employment experience
• Experience with processing background checks and drug screens
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Good communication and organizational skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality as required by policy or law
• Strong technology skills

Responsibilities

• Provide onboarding support and new hire processing.
• Review HR forms for completeness and accuracy.
• Process employment verifications.
• Administer background checks and drug screens.
• E-Verify new hire eligibility.
• Maintain applicant/employee information and files.
• Handle benefits inquiries and payroll deductions.
• Respond to unemployment claims.
• Support HR team with clerical tasks and reporting.
• Escalate inquiries to management as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA related restrictions.
