Job summary

Colorado Coalition for the Homeless is seeking a Peer Specialist to provide mentorship and support for clients with lived experience in recovery. You will help clients set goals, access integrated services, and navigate housing and health resources on the ground.

This role requires CPR/First Aid within 30 days, a Colorado driver’s license, and prior peer mentoring experience. The position offers benefits and a consistent evening schedule, with credentialing completed after hire.

Qualifications

• Completion of accredited Peer Specialist training program highly preferred.
• CPR/First Aid Certification required within 30 days of employment.
• Bi-lingual English-Spanish and/or ASL preferred.
• Colorado driver’s license within 30 days of hire.
• Prior peer mentoring experience serving individuals experiencing behavioral health challenges and/or homelessness highly preferred.
• Must be a person with lived experience including substance use disorders, homelessness support services, and/or mental health challenges with prior and/or ongoing recovery activity.
• Using lived experience, ability to role-model recovery.
• Demonstrates understanding of confidential protocols & privacy laws.

Responsibilities

• Provides mentorship and support to clients through lived experience to build goals and problem solving.
• Facilitates counseling and activities for clients in recovery from substance use disorders.
• Helps clients coordinate and navigate health, housing, and behavioral health services with internal and external partners.
• Transports and escorts clients to scheduled appointments using Coalition vehicles or approved personal vehicle.
• Collaborates with Coalition staff to foster trusting relationships and timely services.
• Performs ongoing client outreach to monitor recovery-oriented needs.
• Ensures timely and accurate recording of services and communications in EHR systems.
