Job summary

Duke University Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for full-time night shifts in the Peds Transplant & Cellular Therapy unit (DCT 4A) in Durham, NC. The role emphasizes 1:1 or 1:3 nurse-to-patient care in a multidisciplinary team, with opportunities to participate in rounds and professional development.

Ideal candidates will have a BSN, NC RN licensure, BLS, and at least 12 months of clinical experience, with a focus on family-centered care.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited BSN program.
• Twelve months of appropriate clinical experience required.
• Current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina required.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Independently plan, provide, supervise and document professional nursing care using the nursing process.
• Use professional nursing judgment to individualize the plan of care based on each patient\'s baseline needs.
• Provide nursing services to patients and families in accordance with the scope of the registered nurse as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
• Delegate tasks and supervise the activities of other licensed and unlicensed care providers.
• Assist nursing personnel in delivering care and serve as a team leader or charge nurse for a group of patients or an entire unit, as assigned.
• Monitor the environment of care and initiate corrective action involving equipment and material resources.
• Maintain required competencies, identify learning needs, participate in professional development, act as a preceptor and support the development of staff and formal learners.
• Participate in clinical and operational performance improvement activities and perform other related duties incidental to the work described.
