Job summary

Duke Careers is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Peds Transplant & Cellular Therapy unit at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC. The role involves 1:1 or 1:3 nurse-to-patient ratios, with day/night rotating shifts in a 36-hour week, and a multidisciplinary team approach.

Ideal candidates have a BSN, NC RN license, and BLS; 12 months of clinical experience required. Relocation assistance and a commitment bonus are available as part of Total Rewards.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited BSN program.
• Twelve months of appropriate clinical experience required.
• Current North Carolina RN licensure required; BLS certification required.
• Pre-employment Physical Capacity Testing required.

Responsibilities

• Independently plan, provide, supervise and document professional nursing care using the nursing process in accordance with physician orders and established policies and procedures.
• Use professional nursing judgment to individualize the plan of care based on each patient's baseline needs and response to care.
• Provide nursing services to patients and families in accordance with the scope of the RN as defined by the NC Board of Nursing.
• Delegate tasks and supervise activities of other licensed and unlicensed care providers.
• Assist nursing personnel in delivering care and act as team leader or charge nurse for a group of patients or an entire unit.
• Monitor the environment of care and initiate corrective action involving equipment and material resources.
• Maintain required competencies, participate in professional development, act as a preceptor and support staff development.
• Participate in clinical and operational performance improvement activities.
