Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Per Diem Practice Support Assistant to join the Pediatrics team in Medford, MA. This role supports appointment scheduling, patient outreach, data accuracy, and patient flow in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Location is on-site at 26 City Hall Mall, Medford, MA 02155. Schedule: 30 hours per week (Mon 12-5, Tue-Thu 8-5 EST). Prior authorization processing and EMR experience (Epic or equivalent) are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• At least 1 year of customer service experience.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Preferred: Associate’s degree in medical office administration.
• Preferred: Pediatrics experience.
• Preferred: Scheduling software and EMR systems experience (Epic or equivalent).
• Strong problem-solving and patient management skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage complex scheduling tasks, including appointment booking, template adjustments, and patient outreach.
• Ensure accurate data collection and reporting; handle follow-up activities, referral tracking and insurance authorization processing.
• Deliver exceptional customer service, resolving escalated issues and supporting patient satisfaction.
• Oversee waiting room operations, verify patient information, and assist with check-in/check-out processes.
• Complete and process forms, prior authorizations, prescription renewals, and other documentation.
• Collaborate with supervisors on coverage and workflow.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and special projects.
