Job summary

Barrette Workforce Solutions, LLC is seeking a Phlebotomist for a Reston, VA location. This contract role runs for about 3 months with potential for permanent placement, and requires pediatric experience.

Responsibilities include performing blood draws, labeling and routing specimens, and ensuring proper handling and documentation while adhering to OSHA/DEP regulations. Schedule includes weekdays with one Saturday obligation.

Qualifications

• Valid phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states.
• Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Pediatric experience required.

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain the venipuncture process clearly and courteously to patients and/or caregivers.
• Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Align requisition forms with specimen tubes and verify test orders for accuracy.
• Package specimens for transport and store samples per required temperatures and protocols.
• Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations and participate in annual department trainings.
