Job summary

Nicklaus Children's Health System in Florida seeks a dedicated RN for Urgent Care Center nursing float pool to plan and deliver patient care using nursing processes. You will assess, implement, evaluate, and coordinate care while upholding Magnet standards and patient rights.

Qualifications

• RN license in Florida or multi-state compact per requirements.
• BSN degree or current enrollment in BSN program.
• CPR/BLS certification; PALS within 2 years of hire.
• Experience in Pediatric ED/UCC or ICU preferred.

Responsibilities

• Communicates patient progress with physicians and care team; documents discharge instructions.
• Performs intake assessments: vitals, weight, symptoms, history.
• Delegates nursing care based on staff competency.
• Performs intake assessment on emergency patients.
• Administers meds, IV hydration, and other treatments per orders.
• Coordinates transfers to higher care for EMTALA patients.
• Obtains immunization consent as required.
• Assists physician in procedures as needed.
• Follows medication administration rights and policies.
• Monitors IV sites after removal for signs of issues.
• Ensures safe analgesic/narcotic administration and reassessment.
• Completes EHR documentation within 24 hours.
• Communicates with patients/families about plan of care and concerns.
• Provides education to patients/families on health needs.
• Promotes safety and infection prevention; conducts hand-offs SBAR.
• Ensures care delivery with minimal errors and regulatory compliance.
• Supervises and observes behavioral health patients; follows CPI guidelines.
