Job summary

Nicklaus Children’s Health System is seeking a Clinical Nurse for the Urgent Care Center float pool in Florida. The role requires active RN licensure in Florida, BLS, PALS within 2 years, and CPI training within 180 days. Candidates should have BSN or be enrolled, with pediatric ED/UCC or ICU experience preferred.

The nurse will coordinate patient care, perform intakes, document in the EMR, and assist physicians with procedures while ensuring safety and high-quality, family-centered care.

Qualifications

• RN license in Florida or multi-state compact in good standing.
• CPR/BLS (AHA) in good standing.
• PALS required within 2 years of hire.
• CPI training within 180 days of hire or transfer.

Responsibilities

• Communicates patient progress including critical findings and changes with physician and care team.
• Completes intakes preparing patient for evaluation including vital signs, weight, symptoms, and history.
• Delegates nursing care based on staff qualifications and competency.
• Performs intake assessment on patients with emergency conditions.
• Administers medications per physician orders and adheres to medication safety rules.
• Plans and coordinates transfers to higher levels of care (EMTALA).
• Obtains parental immunization consent per policy.
• Assists physicians with procedures as needed.
• Documents accurate nursing care in the EMR within 24 hours.
