Job summary

The Patient Access Representative at Phoenix Children's Hospital registers patients for professional and hospital services, collects co-pays and deductibles at the point of service, and verifies demographic and insurance information prior to care.

The role supports uninsured or underinsured patients through the Financial Counselor, maintains accurate records in the HIS/EMR system, and communicates clearly with patients, families and staff. Some travel between sites may be required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 1 year of related office or retail experience with direct customer contact is required.
  • EMR experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology and ICD-9/CPT codes is preferred.
  • Spanish language skills are a plus.
  • Current BLS certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Register patients for professional and hospital services and collect co-pay and deductible amounts.
  • Document demographic and insurance information accurately in the HIS/EMR system.
  • Answer patient inquiries in a courteous and timely manner.
  • Identify and refer uninsured/underinsured patients to the Financial Counselor.
  • Maintain positive relationships with patients, families, insurers, and staff to promote teamwork.
