Job summary

Phoenix Children's in Avondale is seeking a Patient Access Rep for the Emergency Department registration. This PRN role supports scheduling and patient intake with flexibility across shifts, including weekends and holidays.

You will collect co-pays, verify demographics, and act as the primary liaison for patients receiving services. Ideal candidates are dependable, customer-service oriented, and comfortable navigating insurance information and billing processes.

Responsibilities

• Arrives patients who present for professional and hospital services and collects co-pay and deductible amounts.
• Accurately documents information in the appropriate fields and/or account notes; maintains accuracy when entering demographic and insurance information.
• Courteously answers the telephone and addresses questions in a timely manner.
• Identifies and refers uninsured/underinsured patients to the Financial Counselor.
• Inquires patient account systems to identify any prior unpaid liability.
• Maintains positive relationships with patients, guarantors, insurance companies, government entities, clinical staff, coworkers and management.
• Organizes, prioritizes, and monitors daily work to ensure timely and complete registration.
• Participates in unit/hospital educational programs to maintain skills and competency.
• Performs registration in HIS system, verifies insurance coverage, obtains authorization for patients not pre-registered.
